Chapter 2.80. COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY |
§ 2.80.011. Purpose.
Section 33000 et seq. of the Health and Safety Code of the State of California, provides a means whereby a redevelopment agency can be formed in a local community. The sections are collectively referred to as the California Redevelopment Law.
A.
Section 33100 provides that there is in local community a politic body, corporate and politic, known as the redevelopment agency of the community.
B.
Section 33101 provides that the legislative body declare there is a need for such an agency to function in the community prior to the conduct of any business or exercise of any powers of the redevelopment agency.
C.
Section 32000 of the law provides that, as an alternative to the appointment of five members of the agency, the legislative body may, at the time of the adoption of the ordinance declare itself to be the agency; in which case all rights, powers, privileges, duties and immunities vested in the agency shall be vested in the legislative body of the community.
